Customers are becoming more and more individual when it comes to payment options. Therefore it is no wonder that customers use a multitude of payment options for online transactions every day. We want to support you in your aim of satisfying your customers, and that is why we included some brand new payment options for you to implement for your business.

Here’s a little overview of what’s inside this article:

New payment options

Offering different and at the same time secure payment methods is becoming more and more important for online businesses. Customers tend to prefer different payment options due to criteria such as personal preference or their home country. Don’t let any customer slip through your fingers, simply because you didn’t support their favorite payment options. No matter which payment options you choose with Regiondo, you will recieve your well deserved money in in a safe manner.

We now want to present 5 new payment options to you, that we have implemented for your Dashboard recently. WeChat Pay

WeChat is a leading lifestyle ‘super app’ used for messaging between people, as well as connecting people, services and businesses in China and around the world through a number of e-commerce and social features inside the app. WeChat Pay, the payment wallet inside the WeChat app, has over 600 million users.
Chinese consumers can use this method to pay for goods and services inside of businesses’ apps and websites. Users of the app are buying most of their products  in gaming, e-commerce, travel, online education and food/nutrition.

iDEAL is a Netherlands-based payment method that allows customers to complete transactions online using their bank credentials. All major Dutch banks are members of Currence, the scheme that operates iDEAL, making it the most popular online payment method in the Netherlands with a share of online payments close to 55%.

Giropay is a German payment method based on online banking introduced in 2006. It allows customers of most Sparkassen and cooperative banks in Germany to complete transactions online using their online banking environment, with funds debited from their bank account. Giropay accounts for just under 10% of online checkouts in Germany, and is suited to business models that require the funds to be guaranteed.

Bancontact, founded in 1979 and formerly know as Mister Cash, is a leading payment method in Belgium, where it is used in up to a third of online transactions.  Customers authenticate payments and they are immediately confirmed to businesses. More than 80% of online businesses in Belgium offer Bancontact as a payment option and processed more than 27 million payments in 2015.

Alipay is a popular digital wallet in China, operated by ANT Financial Services Group, a financial services provider affiliated with Alibaba. Launched in 2004, Alipay currently has over 450 million active users. Businesses looking to grow their presence with the increasingly active Chinese audience transacting online both within China and around the world should consider offering Alipay.
Chinese consumers using Alipay transact most frequently in e-commerce, travel, online education, online gaming, and food/nutrition. Alipay wallet holders can pay on the web or on mobile using their login credentials or their Alipay app. Another benefit of Alipay lies in the reduced risk of fraud: payments are authenticated with the customer’s login credentials and dispute rates are very low.

You can, naturally, still use our current payment options such as Sofortüberweisung, credit cards and PayPal, can. In fact, we have included some improvements for those payment methods during the last few months, to guarantee an even better service and a higher security for your customers. Make sure you check out our Knowledge Base article to find out everything about your selection of payment options.


According to an ibi research statistic, 73% of respondents have stated using PayPal as a payment method in 2017. This only goes to show how important PayPal still is as an online payment method.

As mentioned in our last edition of our release notes, you can now use your personal PayPal account for all payments via PayPal. To do this, simply enter your account data in the respective box in your Dashboard. For all information on payment via PayPal, follow this link.

Credit cards

More than 90% of german online-shops have accepted payment via credit cards in 2017. It is obvious, that this development stems from the needs of customers. Unfortunately, the rising popularity of credit cards does not stop the danger of frauds. That’s why we included the 3D Secure option for payments through credit cards, to offer more security for you and your company.

When selecting 3D-secure as an option, you can decide betwenn two options. The first one lets the system decide which cards it wants to check during the payment process, the seccond simply adds a check for every credit card before the transaction is being pulled through.
